QUETTA, July 18: Provincial Governor, Justice Amirul Mulk Mengal, has asked the Balochistan Education Foundation to revise its policy regarding providing grants to the educational institutions.

Presiding over the BEF’s Board of Directors meeting here on Thursday, he underlined the need for adopting such policy under which private educational institutions could be established on a strong foundation and their education standard could be improved.

The government was taking all possible steps for improving the educational standard in the province and providing maximum facilities to the students, he said. He added that private educational institutions could play an important role in this behalf as they maintained a certain standard.

The Managing Director, Balochistan Education Foundation, Professor Amanullah Mengal, informed the meeting that Rs52 million grant was provided to various private and other educational institutions in the province since its inception.

He said the foundation set up 40 fellowship schools in the province for girls with the financial assistance and cooperation of the World Bank. Besides providing financial assistance the foundation also provided technical training facilities to the private schoolteachers.

The board meeting discussed various suggestions regarding new policy of extending grants to the private educational institutions. The meeting also approved the foundation’s budget for the year 2002-03.
