ISLAMABAD Former secretary of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Mohammad Ali Akbar said he would challenge his life ban in the court of law.

The PTF had imposed life ban on Ali Akbar from participating in federation's affairs for his alleged role in working against the interest of the game.

'I will contact my attorney over the poor move initiated by the PTF,' he said while talking to Dawn on Tuesday.

'I have nothing at stake despite the ban as technically I am not holding any position in the federation,' he said.

Commenting on the ban, he further said, 'I don't know under what law PTF has imposed a ban on me.'

The former secretary added, 'Show me a single player other than Aisam-ul-Haq and Aqeel Khan who will secure the future of the game at the national and international level.'

'They [PTF officials] have completely failed to develop the game in the country and hijacked the federation,' he alleged.

Ali Akbar said the nation was aware of the performance of the current management of the PTF as its misdeeds have been exposed in the media.

Without naming any official, he said the top three officials in the federation have never played tennis and were without any knowledge of the game.

'A manager of the national junior team had injured a junior player during the Indian tour but the PTF had never taken any notice of this important issue,' he alleged.

'The junior player had informed me about the incident,' he said. The former player further alleged that the PTF officials were exploiting junior players.

Meanwhile, former Davis Cup captain Hamid-ul-Haq who was banned for three years under the similar offence said he would contact his lawyer against the federation.

'I will contact my attorney after receiving the letter from the federation,' he said.
