ISLAMABAD, Nov 3: Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz said on Saturday that the government had taken the decision to join the international community on the basis of principles and in its national interest as Pakistan was against all forms of terrorism.

In a meeting with members of the Pakistani community in Tokyo, he said that the people and the government were, however, worried due to collateral damage in Afghanistan.

He expressed the hope that the military action would end soon, paving the way for establishment of a broad-based government, to be chosen by the people of Afghanistan, and eventual reconstruction and rehabilitation of Afghanistan.

Mr Aziz urged the Pakistanis to send their remittances to Pakistan through official channels and to increase their investment in Pakistan.—APP
