LAHORE, July 17: Nawaz League chairman Raja Zafarul Haq has directed the Punjab and Sindh organizations of his party to hold their elections at the earliest.

The remaining two provinces have already held their elections because of which there is no need for a fresh exercise.

The elections for the central office-bearers will also be held, Raja said, adding that a decision about the new party president would be taken by Mian Nawaz Sharif.

No date has been set for the party elections, although they have to be completed before Aug 5.

It is said that Sirdar Zulfiqar Khosa will be retained as the Punjab PML(N) president after the declaration by Gen Musharraf that graduation condition would not apply to party office-bearers.

Raja said his party was determined to take part in the general elections despite all constitutional amendments and other impediments created by the government. However, in case the government crossed all limits, decision to boycott the polls would be taken in consultation with parties in the ARD.
