GUJRANWALA, July 21 The city district council approved the Rs7.98 billion annual budget of 2009-10 on Tuesday with Rs2.1 billion allocation for development projects.

City District Nazim Fiaz Ahmad Chatha said the city district government had Rs2.77 billion from its own resources while Rs5.11 billion were expected from the provincial government. He said money would be generated from adda parking fee, commercialisation fee, licence fee, advertisement fee and rent of commercial buildings. He said Rs4.95 billion were earmarked for the salaries of staff while Rs820 million would be spent on bills and other expenditures. The city district government allocated Rs1.5 billion for labour and social welfare departments. He said Rs1.17 billion would be spent on roads, Rs589 million on Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) roads, Rs1 million on education, Rs8 million on health and Rs6.6 million on citizen community boards.
