PESHAWAR, July 13: Members of a peace mission of North Waziristan Agency have asked the NWFP Governor and Peshawar Corps Commander to take immediate steps for a ceasefire between two warring tribes, otherwise their clashes would spread throughout the agency.

Speaking at a Press conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Saturday, the members claimed the government had not resolved a land dispute between Darpakhel Dawar and Tabiwal Wazir tribes.

The members, including three former executive engineers Mohammad Zaman, Sardar Khan and Major Ayaz and Dr Imran Khan, stated that the dispute had been continuing between the tribes for the last three decades over the ownership of an area which had resulted in three major clashes.

They said in 1976 half of the controversial area was distributed between the two tribes in accordance with a verdict of a tribal jirga. However, they claimed, that judgment was not implemented.
