LAHORE, June 22 The Pakistan Hockey Federation has served a legal notice on former Olympian and coach Naveed Alam for misappropriation of funds during Pakistan's tour to Europe last year.

“We have sent a notice to him for not submitting the record of Rs2.5 million during senior team's tour to Europe for the build up of the Beijing Olympics,” said PHF spokesman, Shahzad Malik here on Monday.

He said Naveed has been given one week's time to submit his reply failing which legal and disciplinary action will be initiated against him.

“It is not a small matter as he is involved in embezzlement of funds and the PHF will take every measure to recover the amount,” he said.

He said a probe committee to look into Pakistan team's debacle at the Beijing Olympic has already recommended a life ban on Naveed for his handling of the team in an unprofessional way. —APP
