HYDERABAD, July 11: A large number of activists of the PPP, Women Wing, brought out a protest rally from the city office of the party here on Thursday against the conviction of party chairperson Benazir Bhutto by an accountability court.

The activists were led by Shagufta Jumani, Nuzhat Pathan and Hina Dastagir

Speaking at the rally, Ms Jumani said Sindh was being victimized and it had been deprived of its due share of water, health and education. She said the women of the province had become politically conscious and they would fight against the excesses.

She said illiterate people were being appointed as ministers to keep the PPP out of the political arena.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Pathan said corrupt people and parties could not alienate the masses from Ms Bhutto.

POPULATION DAY: The population welfare department, in collaboration with representatives of NGOs and the elected representatives of people, staged a rally here on Thursday to mark the “World Population Day”.

The rally started from the Elsa Kazi Campus and terminated at the Hyderabad Press Club.

The participants of the rally carried banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of family planning.
