PESHAWAR, July 10: Tanzeem Tahabuz Haqooq-i-Chitral has welcomed the NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain’s announcement regarding beginning of the construction of Lowari Tunnel in August.

This will solve the long-standing demand of the five million people of Chitral, said Abdul Akbar Chitrali, convener of TTHC at a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday.

He said the announcement to start construction work at Lowari Tunnel has ended uncertainty among the people of Chitral and hoped that the project would herald an era of prosperity in the region.

“We have been demanding of the successive government to construct the tunnel because the people of the area remain cut off from the entire country during snowfall,” he said, adding that the long and tiresome struggle of the people would come to an end.
