CMC explains salient features

LAHORE, July 8: The Cricket Management Committee has come out in defence of its loop-holed domestic structure that was announced Monday.

Iqbal Qasim, chairman of the CMC, told a news conference that various changes were made to get more positive results. He hoped that no major changes would be made in the next season.

He admitted that the consistency in the domestic structure should be retained for four to five years which was necessary to earn good results.

He said that he would try to make it compulsory for all the associations to include Test cricketers in their selection committees. He said that the PCB would appoint the age scrutiny committees to verify the entry of overage players in the junior competitions.

He said the departments and associations will submit their 20-men squads while rest of their players will be allowed to play for any association.

Kookaburra balls will be used during the matches. The PCB has arranged the balls and would supply it to all the teams on subsided rates, he added.

Every association is allowed to include a maximum of five guest players but it would be made mandatory for the player to appear for that association throughout the season.

The domestic season was announced without any sponsor nor any prize money was announced.

General manager cricket operation Zakir Khan said that the PCB had given additional charge of marketing to Yawar Saeed.

Interestingly, Yawar will be busy with the back-breaking commitments of the Pakistan team and it is anybody’s guess what his contribution will be in his latest assignment.
