NAWABSHAH, May 11 A landlord of Nawabshah has demanded that President Asif Ali Zardari should take notice of bids to occupy his farm.

A man, Babu Chandio, backed by Benazirabad PPP president and MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio, had managed to prepare forged documents of three acres of his land and brought 150 people for forcible occupation a few months ago, landlord Faisal Dehraj alleged at a press conference here on Monday. He said his father Sikander Dehraj had purchased 16 acres of land from Daim Fakir Magsi in 1966.

When the matter was brought into the knowledge of MNA Faryal Talpur, both the parties were called at the Zardari House. A former food controller, Ayub Khan Rind, who is famous for settling disputes, was also called.

After listening to the two parties, Mr Rind asked them to proceed to civil court and bound them for not using the disputed land till the final decision of the court. Ghulam Qadir Chandio's brother Ghulam Hussain Chandio also attended that meeting from his rival group, he said.

The landlord said the matter was pending in the civil court which had vacated the stay. Later, Babu Chandio with the support of PPP MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio started chopping their mango trees, he alleged.

He said the other party had almost chopped the orchid by violating the decision made at the Zardari House.

Mr Dehraj said it was an injustice as the genuine owners from whom they had purchased the land were alive and had recorded their statement before the judge that they had not sold the land to Babu Chandio.

He said his family had filed an application with the anti-corruption establishment for forgery in the revenue record.

Mr Dehraj said his family was the voter of the PPP, but its local leader and provincial lawmaker was doing injustice to them.

He demanded that President Asif Ali Zardari and MNA Faryal Talpur should help settle the matter.

When contacted, MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio said he had nothing to do with the land matter.
