MIRPURKHAS, July 5: A labourer, Dilshad, son of Dil Murad Magsi, has complained that the SHO of Khan police station arrested him in a false case, subjected him to torture and charged Rs5,000 for his release.

A resident of Jamnadas Colony, Dilshad told newsmen here on Friday that the SHO, Ghulam Mustafa Thebo, and other policemen had picked up him from his house on June 22 as suspect in a tractor robbery.

The owner of the vehicle had claimed that he had paid ‘ransom’ to get back the tractor, he added.

Dilshad stated that police had threatened to implicate him in the case and demanded Rs10,000 for his release. He said that he was subjected to torture at the lock-up. He further said that he somehow managed to arrange Rs5,000 and paid the amount to the SHO who released him.

After his release, the complainant said, he submitted an application with the DPO of Mirpurkhas in the hope of justice but the plea was unfortunately referred to the SHO.
