PESHAWAR, Nov 2 : Former provincial president of the Pakistan Muslim League (J) Manzoor- ul- Haq Qureshi has asked the US to stop killing innocent people in Afghanistan.

Speaking at a press conference at the local Press Club on Friday, he blamed UK Prime Minister Tony Blair for the airstrikes on Afghanistan, adding that that he ( Blair) had induced US President Bush to attack Afghanistan, adding that Mr Bush was not in favour of such action.

Mr Qureshi called upon Queen Elizabeth to take notice of this serious violation of human rights and international law, and added that the killing of innocent people in Afghanistan was creating hatred for Christians.

Condemning the role of religious parties, he advised the people to remain peaceful during rallies and demonstration as violence harmed the country.

Talking about President Pervez Musharraf’s role, Mr Qureshi said he was facing immense internal and external pressure. He was of the opinion that the president might not get anything in return for his cooperation with the US.—PPI
