KARACHI Debutant Pakistani cueist Mohammed Asif stormed into the pre-quarter final round of 25th Asian Snooker Championship with his third consecutive win in Tangshan, China, according to information received here on Monday evening.

 

After winning his matches against Cao Xinlong of China 4-2 and 4-0 against Mongolian Temoujin Tseveedash, Asif thrashed Nguyen Nhat Thanh of Vietnam 4-1.

 

Former national champion Mohammad Sajjad from Sargodha recovered from a poor start by losing his opening match 1-4 against Chinese cueist Shi Hanqing before beating Nazer Abdullah Asseri of Saudi Arabia 4-2 and Luong Chi Dung of Vietnam 4-2.

 

Mohammed Asif will take on Soheil Vehedi of Iran on Thursday for the Group 'E' champion's spot while Sajjad faces Thailands Ratchapol Pu-Ob-Orm for a place in the knock out stage of the championship.
