Women squash from July 11

PESHAWAR, July 3: The first edition of NWFP Women Squash Championship is commencing from July 11, 2002, at indoor squash courts of Qayyum Sports Complex here.

This was stated by Rukhsana Rajput, joint secretary of the NWFP Squash Association who claimed preparations for holding the Championship, have been completed.

She said that almost 19 females from all over the province with two players each from Frontier College for Women and Jinnah College

for Women University of Peshawar and some females from local schools will also participate.

The event will be open for all and those interested would be encourage to participate and show their skills.

About the holding of first Women Squash Championship for the first time in the provincial capital, Rukhsana Rajput said that the decision regarding it had been taken in the recently concluded meeting of Pakistan Squash Federation at Islamabad on June 25, last.

She also disclosed that since April the camp has been continue for which coaching services of former World No. 2, Mohibullah Khan, has been hired to coach women squash players.

She said besides holding of provincial level tournament, a national level women championship is on the card somewhere in October this year.

While appreciating the services of former World Champion Qamar Zaman and Pakistan Squash Federation, Senior Vice President Air Marshal Qaiser Hussain, she said that they both are taking interest for the promotion of squash in the country.—APP
