SUKKUR, July 3: The Mutahidda Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), a conglomerate of six religious parties, has declared that the forthcoming general elections would prove to be a vote ‘for’ or ‘against’ the United States.

The General Secretary of MMA, Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro, while addressing a press conference on Wednesday at the Jamia Hamadia Manzilgah, said that the patriotic people of Pakistan would defeat those supporting the US policies.

He said that the alliance would contest on all the seats of national and provincial assemblies.

He warned the government of a civil war if the elections were rigged by it.

Earlier, Dr Soomro chaired a meeting of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI) which was attended by 50 delegates from Larkana and Sukkur division.

The meeting rejected the Registration of Madaris Ordinance and declared that no religious institution would abide by the ordinance.

It described the government’s move as anti-Islam and an act of interference into the affairs of already registered religious institutions.
