SHEIKHUPURA, July 3: The three-day Urs celebration of Sufi poet Syed Waris Shah will begin in Jandiala Sher Khan on July 23.

The Waris Shah Committee finalized arrangements in a meeting held here on Wednesday.

Celebrations will start with the ghusl of the grave of the poet on July 23. Quran khwani will be held after chaddar laying ceremony. A Punjabi mushaira and sports event will be organized in the evening. More than 40 poets will take part in the mushaira.

On July 24, Heer recitation contest will be held in which winners will be given cash awards.

Cultural shows and play Heer-Ranjha will be staged on the last day on July 25.
