HYDERABAD, April 24 Justice Amir Hani Muslim on Friday took suo motu notice of a prisoner`s charges against Hyderabad central jail administration and appointed sessions judge to record his statement.

He has also asked DIG prisons Allauddin Abbasi and superintendent jail Gulzar Channa to appear in court on Monday.

The sessions judge visited the central jail on Friday and recorded statements of Shahrukh Khanzada and number of other prisoners and did not ask the superintendent of jail to accompany him.

Khanzada repeated his charges against jail administration the jail chief and other policemen had subjected him worst form of torture.

Khanzada is facing charges of murdering a policeman.

Gulzar Channa said the prisoner was trying to blackmail the jail administration into withdrawing cases lodged against him and other prisoners in the wake of recent riots in jail.

He claimed that Khanzada`s injuries were self-inflicted and expressed surprise that it seemed ridiculous how jail officials could subject a prisoner to such form of torture and then let him appear in court as well in today`s world of media surveillance.

He maintained that he had been told by prisoners that either he should strike a deal with them or be prepared to face trouble as long as he was serving in the jail.

Justice Muslim and another high court judge have compiled a report on the state of affairs in Sindh prisons and submitted it to Sindh High Court chief justice.
