Sassui seeks package for Thatta

Published April 20, 2009

THATTA, April 19 Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Ms Sassui Palijo has said establishment of alternative energy project in the backward district of Thatta was a commendable step but it would only be beneficial in true sense if the local unemployed youths were given jobs in the project.

Talking to journalists here on Sunday, Ms Palijo said that time was appropriate now for the federal government to realise the legitimate rights of provinces and the benefits of all the natural resources of relevant provinces should be handed over to them.

She said the local population of Thatta district should be considered as the actual beneficiaries and the royalty of income be generated through the power generation from these wind mills should be given to the province.

She said inauguration of this mega project by the prime minister was appreciable but people of Thatta were expecting special package from him.—BoC
