SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 7: No action has been taken against 17 employees of the education department who were found guilty of embezzling Rs130 million last year.

This was stated by Pasban’s Sheikhupura chief organizer Abdul Wahab here on Sunday.

He said that a three-member team of education department’s senior officers had detected the embezzlement after an inquiry last year.

The inquiry team had held 10 officers, including DEOs male and female, and seven other officials responsible for making bogus appointments and drawing salaries through fake bills, thus misappropriating Rs130 million during Nawaz Sharif’s last tenure.

Abdul Wahab said that the matter was referred to the Punjab education secretary in May this year who transferred the 17 officials to Lahore instead of taking any action against them.
