HYDERABAD, July 1: The district coordination officer (DCO), Hyderabad, Mir Hussain Ali, has formed a committee headed by the district officer administration in the education group to integrate the activities of institutions dealing with special education to obtain better results.

He announced this on Monday during his visit to institutions dealing with special education and rehabilitation of special children being run by the federal, provincial, and district governments in Hyderabad.

The executive district officer, Hyderabad (community development), Amir Ali Behan, and the executive district officer, Hyderabad (finance), Abdul Qadir Mangi, accompanied the DCO.

The DCO, during the visit, observed that the institutions were not being managed properly and they were not being utilized to their full capacity.

He constituted a committee under the district officer administration in the education group because of his experience and qualifications in the field of special education.

The committee has been assigned to identify all such institutions and to furnish proposals to integrate all such activities under one umbrella to make these institutions more beneficial for special people.

The committee has also been asked to examine the cooperation of NGOs and the private sector to strengthen these institutions.

WASA: The managing director, Wasa, informed the general public that on Monday 1-7-2002 there was an electric power breakdown at the fort hill water supply pumping station from 9.45am to 1.00pm (3 hours 15 minutes).

He said that the breakdown has caused severe shortage in the already water deficit areas of Hali Road, American Quarters, Hazara Colony, Gari Khata, Risala Road, Station Road, Radio Pakistan, Tulsidas Road, and Cantonment.

He has notified that it may take between two and three days to normalize the water supply position in the affected areas provided there was no further breakdown.

REFRESHER COURSE: The fourth two-week refresher course of computer skills for the teachers of primary and secondary sections of the Syed Pannah Ali Shah Model School, Jamshoro, and the Dr Nabi Buksh Baloch Model School, Hyderabad, of the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, was inaugurated here on Monday.
