KARACHI, July 1: The provincial minister for health and population welfare, Ahsan Ahmed, visited Civil Hospital and ordered the proper care and treatment of the six-year-old rape victim undergoing treatment there, on Monday.

The minister visited the ward along with the additional secretary of health, medical superintendent of CHK, assistant medical superintendent and Madadgar’s Child Helpline and Protection Service team which is providing legal and social help to two girls aged 6 and 9, and to their families. They also discussed the girl’s health with her mother.

Meanwhile, Ahsan Ahmed ordered the additional secretary of health to extend better health facilities to the girl.

Under the directives of the AMS, a committee was also formed by the incharge of the gynae unit at CHK, comprising specialists from orthopaedic and psychiatry departments, to examine the minor girl.—PPI
