MIRPURKHAS, June 30: The Mirpurkhas District Council, after a short debate, unanimously approved its budget for fiscal year 2002-2003 here on Saturday.

According to the budget, the total expected income will be Rs2.294 billion.

An amount of Rs1.351 billion will be spent on salaries and Rs208 million will be spent on development schemes.

A sum of Rs212.314 million will be spent on the Khushhal Pakistan Programme schemes, Rs122 million on the rehabilitation of drought-affected people, Rs50.5 million under the sugarcane cess, Rs89.244 million on behalf of school management committees and Rs25.537 million will be spent on education reforms.

While taking part in the debate on the budget, the members urged to allocate funds for development works in the agriculture and livestock sectors.
