HYDERABAD, March 25 Eminent writers and scholars, Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo, Shoukat Hussain Shoro, Dr Fehmida Hussain, Agha Saleem and Hameed Sindhi, have expressed grief over the death of renowned Indian Sindhi novelist, short story writer, playwright and critic Shyam Jai Sanghani.

He died in Mumbai on March 22. He had suffered a paralysis attack two years ago.

In their condolence message, they said that Sindhi literature had suffered irreparable loss in the demise of Jai Sanghani. They said that he had introduced new trends in fiction and had his own unique style.

Jai Sanghani had authored many novels, five collections of short stories and three anthologies of poetry. He had also edited many literary journals and was given awards by the Indian education department and Sahatya academies of Maharashtra and Delhi.

Jai Sanghani had also written a poem titled “Nadi Moti Wai” on the assassination of Benazir Bhutto which had been published in many literary journals of India.

Jai Sanghani was also a painter of repute and had prepared the titles of more than 50 books. He had retired three years ago as the editor of a journal published by the Sahatya Academy, Maharashtra.
