HYDERABAD, March 13 The Institute of Sindh Affairs has expressed reservations on new education policy and demanded appointment of a commission before its implementation.

In a joint statement issued here on Friday, eminent educationists Prof Asif Ali Kazi, Prof Ameer Ali Qadri, Prof Saeeda Basheer Chandio, Zafar Rajput and others said that the teachers, students and parents should be given representation in education commission and revision of syllabus of A and O levels, government schools and seminaries. They also called for introducing uniform education system throughout the country on the pattern of India for providing equal opportunities to 80 per cent students belonging to middle and lower middle classes as well as to four million students of seminaries.

FLOWER SHOW The arranging of `Hyderabad spring Flower Show 2009` is yet another achievement of the district government in providing recreational activities to the people of the city.

District Nazim Hyderabad, Kanwar Naveed Jamil said this during the inaugural of the flower show on Thursday at the Nursery Park Unit No 6 Latifabad. Hundreds of people including women and school children visited the flower show.

He said that the entire infrastructure of the city had been changed to provide basic facilities to the people. “Life becomes totally dull and meaningless without recreation,” he said adding that the district government had constructed a large number of parks and playgrounds including the renovation and modernisation of the historic Rani Bagh.

He announced that an international Mushaira will be held next month and poets from India, Europe and other countries would grace the occasion. He said that awards would be given to participants of the flower show.

Naib District Nazim, Zafar Rajput and host Taluka Nazim Latifabad, Sabir Hussain Kaimkhani also spoke on the occasion. Three plasma screens of 61x42 inches were also installed at the Nursery Park.

The district government had also set-up a free glass bangle stall for women.

MERGER The Workers Union of Sindh Small Industries Corporation on Friday announced its merger with the Employees Union (CBA) in the larger interest of workers.
