ISLAMABAD, Nov 1: The second consignment of relief goods procured from the funds provided by the United Nations Development Programme was distributed among the flood-affected people of the federal Capital’s Kutcha Abadis, a UNDP press release said on Thursday.

It said $50,000 had been provided by the UN office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs, a significant portion of which was utilized to provide relief items to the July flashfloods victims of Mansehra and Rawalpindi.

The remaining amount of $8,000, coupled with $20,000 provided by the Netherlands embassy, was spent on providing relief goods to the affected people living in the Kutcha Abadis of I-9, I-10, I-11, G-7 and G-8 sectors.

The relief items handed over to the city administration at a local school included 32 tons of wheat flour, four tons of vegetable ghee, 3.2 tons of sugar, 3.2 tons of pulses, 1.6 tons of dry milk and 3,525 blankets, the press release added.

The distribution of goods among already registered 1200 families will continue over the next few days.
