HYDERABAD, Feb 22 The Hyderabad Samaaj Sevak Mandal on Sunday appealed to the president, prime minister and federal minister for water and power to change the proposed site for Hingol dam in the Hinglaj area because it threatened to swallow up a pre-historic temple, one of the holiest places of pilgrimage for Hindus worldwide.

The office-bearers of the body, Jai Kumar Dheerani and Dr Dileep Kumar, said at a news conference at the press club that Hindus living in various countries would be deprived of their holy yatra (pilgrimage) to the temple if the government constructed a dam near it.

They said that Hinglaj temple was one of the 35 religious places of pilgrimage for Hindus.

Hindus, they said, were required to undertake pilgrimage to the 35 places including Hinglaj temple for Hindus.

The temple, located in Lasbela district of Balochistan was thousands of years old and millions of Hindus from all over the world visited it every year, they said.
