KARACHI, Nov 1: The Karachi Coordination Committee (KCC) of Pakistan People’s Party has expressed concern over the issuance of show-cause notices to 289 officers of Sindh government.

A meeting was held here in this regard, which was attended by Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Aftab Shaban Mirani, N D Khan, Yusuf Talpur and Taj Haider.

It was observed that the matter had already been decided in favour of the officers by the superior judiciary and taking advantage of its review petition, the government had made an arbitrary move to satisfy its ego.

When joblessness was forcing people to commit suicide, the government, instead of generating employment opportunities, was creating further unemployment, it argued.

The KCC alleged that the government appeared to get rid of urban and rural officers belonging to a particular province by replacing them with its favourites.

Most government officers who had been given show-cause notices had been appointed under the rules of government in a transparent manner and had gained experience of ten to fifteen years each, KCC maintained and cautioned that such acts created a deep sense of alienation and termed it detrimental to national solidarity and integrity.

The committee demanded withdrawal of the notices and assured the effected officers that as a matter of general policy, the future PPP government would reinstate all the employees, who had been retrenched by its successor governments.—PPI
