KARACHI, June 20: Zone-IV Whites defeated Zone-II Blues by three wickets in the KCCA Inter Zonal under-19 cricket championship at UBL Sports Complex Wednesday.

Ameer Azam and opener Khurram Manzoor played main part in their team’s triumph. Ameer took four wickets for 56 with his left arm spinners and Khurram first took two for 19 with medium pacers and later slammed a fine 52 with six boundaries.

Zone-II Blues made 204 for nine in 50 overs. Hassan Saud hit four boundaries in his 44. Jibran Bashir (38), Hammad Khan (37) and Salman Saeed (35) also showed batting form.

In response Zone-IV Whites reached the target in 45.1 overs, scoring 205 for seven. Khurram Manzoor made 52. Adnan Ahmed struck 46 with five 4s and Tahir Aziz finished 34 not out. Shoaib Lodhi 3/47 and Mirza Idrees Baig 2/31 were the main wicket taker.

At PCB Academy Ground at National Stadium, Zone-VII Whites beat Zone-V Blues by 60 runs.

Zone-VII Whites 230 for seven in 50 overs thanks to a sparkling half centuries by Farhan Saeed (58), Khurram Ibrahim (55) and Daniyal Ahsan made 49. Aga Abid took 3/47 and Masoom Mansoor 2/34 and Tariq Murad 2/18 lent him good support.

Zone-V Blues in reply were bowled out for 170 in 35.5 overs. Tariq Murad topscored 78 with six hits to the fence. Salman Javed 27 and Adnan Muhammad 19 were other contributors. Leg spinner Raheel Waris took 3/42 and Aftab Ahmed got 2/46.—Reuters
