SADIQABAD, Oct 1: The National Highway Authority (NHA) is yet to pay farmers who land has been acquired for dualizing the national highway’s N-5 section.

In a joint statement here, some landlords including, Rao Muhammad Ali, Jam Allah Ditta and several others, pointed out that the NHA had acquired the land some seven years ago for the extension of the Kot Sabzal section of the national highway.

Despite numerous meetings with the local managers of the NHA, they said no development took place. They also urged the authorities concerned to meet their redressal without delay.

URGED: The absence of the Trading Corporation of Pakistan from the local market is keeping lint and phutti prices depressed.

A wave of anxiety gripped the cultivators as no staff was available in the zonal office of the corporation.

Meanwhile, local cotton ginners president Muhammad Saleem Chaudhry urged the authorities concerned to direct the TCP to initiate timely purchase of cotton besides deployment of staff in the Rahim Yar Khan office for the good of ginners and the growers.
