SARGODHA, June 19: The Sargodha Transport Network (STN) was launched on Wednesday to provide people cheap transport facility.

The service was inaugurated by district Nazim Malik Amjad Ali Noon.

Initially, 24 wagons having a capacity of 15 passengers each will be plied on eight routes. The fare has been fixed at Rs3 and Rs5.

The wagon owners have been asked to refrain from overloading and overcharging.

Later, the Nazim said the district government has fulfilled a promise of providing cheap transport facility to the commuters.

The inaugural ceremony was also attended by the district and police officials besides a large number of people from all walks of life.

DEATH SENTENCE: An anti-terrorism court on Wednesday convicted two brothers and their sister of murder of a police constable.

Convict Akram Shahzad was sentenced to death and fined Rs120,000, his brother Amir was handed down four years and sister Naurin three years’ rigorous imprisonment. A sum of Rs100,000 will be given to the family of the victim as Qisas.

According to prosecution, Akram was a drug trafficker. He was arrested by police which recovered contraband from his house in Rehmanpura.

While he was being taken to the police station, his brother and sister attacked on the police party and freed him. Akram later killed constable Asghar Hayat.
