FAISALABAD, June 19: The opposition group has announced to publish a white paper which will highlight the corruption, misuse of powers and other wrong-doings of district Nazim Zahid Nazir.

This was stated by former MPA Raja Riaz Ahmed, who lost the district Nazim elections, while talking to newsmen here on Wednesday.

He said the white paper would be circulated among the high-ups of the government at the local Clock Tower chowk in the presence of newsmen, traders, elected councillors and other people.

It will also be presented to the Punjab governor besides parcelling to Gen Pervez Musharraf and other government high-ups for taking necessary action against the district Nazim, he said.

A no confidence motion, he said, would also be moved before the house against the Zila Nazim, claiming that over 70 per cent elected members had already assured their full support.

Raja Riaz further alleged that the entire district government machinery was being used for the character assassination and victimization of opposition councillors.

Not a single uplift scheme, he said, had been initiated in the district during the tenure of the Zila Nazim. The corrupt mafia had been deputed on all important posts of the district government for plundering the public money, he said.

He threatened to launch a protest movement against the corruption of the district Nazim if the Punjab government did not take action against him.

STRIKE: The local District Bar Association on Wednesday observed a complete strike in protest against the murder of a senior lawyer, Mumtaz Yousaf.

The DBA in its emergent meeting demanded that the police should immediately arrest the killers and send the case to the anti-terrorism court for trial.

Meanwhile, Batala Colony police have registered a murder case against four people on the report of the deceased’s uncle Chaudhry Sadiq Gujjar. He alleged in his plaint that Ataullah, Irfan, Shahzad and Ashraf had murdered Yousaf in revenge.

As is now, no arrest has been made.

COMMITS SUICIDE: Another youth committed suicide on Wednesday by taking poison over a money issue at Chak 136-GB.

Ghulam Murtaza died on the way to a local hospital. Police sent the body to the Allied Hospital for autopsy.

THREE INJURED: Three labourers sustained serious injuries when a gas cylinder exploded in a textile unit near Naika Kohala on the Faisalabad-Sargodha Road here on Tuesday night.

Dozens of labourers were working in the printing section at the time of the explosion. Mehmood, Ramzan and Abdullah suffered critical wounds and were rushed to the local Allied Hospital where the condition of former two persons was stated to be serious.
