QUETTA, Dec 20 Minister of State for Ports and Shipping Nabil Gabol has said the Gwadar port agreement with the Singapore Port Authority will be thoroughly reviewed and it can be cancelled if found against the interests of Balochistan.

Addressing a press conference with Chief Minister Nawab

Aslam Raisani at Gwadar on Saturday, he said that the fruit of the Gwadar project must reach local people and they should be provided jobs on priority.

He said the control of the port should be given to the Balochistan government to end the sense of deprivation among its people.

Mr Gabol assured the people of Gwadar that their reservations and grievances would be addressed and Balochistan would be developed on a par with other provinces.

He said that development projects undermining basic rights of local people would not be allowed and policies would be framed in accordance with the aspiration and interests of the masses in future.

He said that past regime`s dictatorial policies and injustices had created a sense of deprivation among the people of Balochistan and a lot needed to be done to heal their wounds.

APP adds Meanwhile, first vessel carrying 30,000 tons of urea imported from Qatar berthed at the jetty of Gwadar port on Saturday.

An official of the Trading Corporation of Pakistan said that MV Charlott Bulker would offload the urea at a ceremony to be held on Sunday. Mr Gabol will be chief guest on the occasion.
