SARGODHA, June 15: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education on Saturday announced the results of matriculation examinations, 2002.

A total 43,544 candidates took the examinations of whom 22,517 were declared successful showing a pass percentage of 51.71 which is about 3 per cent less than the previous year.

Girls maintained their superiority over boy students as their pass percentage was 57.57 and 48.64, respectively. The pass percentage of regular students was 63.63 and private students 32.38.

Twelve of the top 15 positions were captured by Sargodha district.

Faisal Mahmood (roll No 10345) of Dar-i-Arqam, Sargodha, stood overall first with 789 marks out of 850. His school mate Ahmad Badar Nisar (roll No 10346) got 786 marks and Tahir Husain Sherazi (roll No 14356) of the Government High School Chak 47-NB, Sargodha, 784 marks and stood second and third, respectively.

All the three top position holders are from the science group.

Among girls in the science group, Rakhshanda Nisa (roll No 2208) of the Government MC Girls High School, block 26/27, Sargodha, stood first with 769 marks while Maham Riaz (roll No 2535) of the OPF Public School, Bhalwal, got second place with 762 marks and Wadiat Khan (roll No 100) of Punjab School and Science College, Bhakkar, and Sehrish Nazeer (roll No 1678) of Progressive School Sargodha stood third with 760 marks.

The following are the results of general group:

Boys: Hafiz Muhammad Latif (roll No 24366) of the Government Higher Secondary School, Quaidabad (Khushab) stood first with 703 marks while Muhammad Mehrban Nayar (roll No 23094) of the Government High School, Dagar Shada (Bhakkar) and Riaz Husain (roll No 41373) of Rahdari village Noorpur Thal tehsil (Khushab) stood second and third respectively with 697 and 795 marks.

Girls: Madiha Akhtar (roll No 19061) of the Government Girls High School Farooka, Sargodha, bagged 726 marks and stood first, while Sajida Anwar (roll No 18426) of the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Chak 29-SB (Sargodha) stood second with 709 marks and Humera Rubab (roll No 19181) of the Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kot Momin (Sargodha) stood third with 707 marks.

Muhammad Mehrban who got second position among the general group said he was an orphan and have no source of income to continue his studies. The BISE chairman announced a special stipend for him and assured him that he would make arrangements that he could continue his study if showed good result in the future.
