HYDERABAD, Dec 4 To highlight socio-economic problems being faced by the disabled people, the Rehabilitation Centre for Physically Handicapped (RCPH) and International Inner Wheel Hyderabad District jointly organised a function on Wednesday at the RCPH Qasimabad. Globally, the day was being celebrated as the World Disabled Day. Gifts among special people were also distributed.

Speakers stressed on setting up skilled development institutes, specifically designed for the utilisation of talent of the physically handicapped people.

The country could not benefit from this manpower due to lack of proper education, training and job opportunities for special people rather this segment was confounded with multiple socio-economic problems, they said.

They criticised policy makers for conducting research on by-products of dead material while ignoring the methodology to benefit from the ability of special people.Ms Zareen Kehkashan, DO Social Welfare Hyderabad said that their organisation was extending support to physically handicapped and deprived people of our society. She called upon the philanthropists to extend their full support to this organisation.

She termed the International Inner Wheel Organisation as a beacon of hope for the deprived lot of the society. Ms Nighat Sarfaraz, district chairperson of the Organisation said that they were working for the welfare of the have-nots.

She handed over a tri-cycle and a sewing machine to a physically handicapped person in the RCPH and assured of future support.

Assistant Director RCPH, Ali Bux Umrani said that the Centre was financially weak for meeting the needs of enrolled persons.

He too, sought the help of philanthropists for enabling the handicapped people to earn their livelihood with dignity.

Regional Director Information Hyderabad, Imdad Ali Keerio said that the skill development among these people would provide job opportunities and also supplement National Human Resources.

He said that the programme can only succeed with the help of civic society and private sector. A campaign for mobilisation was needed to awaken importance and potentialities of special people.

He said that a multidimensional strategy was needed for efficient utilisation of this manpower for which a survey to know their exact number was needed.

Later, Imdad Ali Keerio, Ms Zareen Kehkashan and Ms Nighat Sarfaraz distributed tri-cycles, sewing machines and Eid gifts among them.

BISE RESULT Controller of examinations, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Hyderabad on Thursday announced the result of Higher Secondary Certificate part-I (class-XI) Humanities group (regular/private) annual examinations 2008.

According to face sheet of the result, 7,008 candidates appeared in the examinations out of which 4,544 were declared pass in all 6 papers and results of 328 candidates withheld for one or the other reasons.
