KARACHI: Blast disrupts meeting

KARACHI, June 14: Senior provincial and City Government officers were attending a high-level meeting at the New Sindh Secretariat when the suicide blast outside the US Consulate occurred on Friday.

The blast shook the building of the New Sindh Secretariat where the meeting was in progress on the second floor, under the chairmanship of the provincial chief secretary.

Also present at the meeting were a delegation of the NRB, provincial home secretary, city police chief, DCO and the City Nazim.

The chief secretary asked the concerned officers to immediately collect information and initiate rescue work.

Those who rushed to the scene included the home secretary, DCO and the city police chief.

DCO, Karachi, Shafiqur Rehman Paracha, at the scene of the blast, said that law-enforcement agencies had taken over the investigation.

He supervized the relief and rescue operation at the site and later visited the Jinnah Hospital where he met the injured and talked to the doctors.—APP
