HYDERABAD, June 12: The workers’ convention of the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI), Sindh, held here on Tuesday passed several resolutions rejecting the greater Thal canal and the Kalabagh dam projects till a consensus was evolved by the government. It called for the construction of Baran, Johi Kirthar, Sehwan, and Nara Thar dams in Sindh province.

The convention was presided over by PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

It said there was severe water shortage in Sindh province and there was disagreement on the formula of distribution of water resources. It said that the water shortage had badly affected the water level in wells.

It demanded the government to overcome the water shortage and implement all the water accords in letter and spirit.

Through another resolution the convention called upon the government to take measures to check artificial price hike and hoarding and hold all corrupt people and looters accountable.

Referring to the poor law and order situation, another resolution asked the government to adopt all possible measures aimed at crushing the network of terrorists in order to ensure peace.

The convention condemned attacks on mosques, Imambargahs and other places that resulted in the killing of innocent people.

It called for the reinstatement of all those workers who had been sacked from different departments and financial institutions.

The resolution said that all the provincial resources should be handed over to the provinces so that these could be utilized for people’s welfare.

ELECTION COMMISSION: The chairman, PTI, demanded an independent and credible Election Commission to ensure free and fair elections in the country.

Mr Imran said that all corrupt politicians and leaders must be prevented from contesting the elections regardless of the fact whether there was evidence of corruption against them.

He said that in the post-9/11 scenario all the freedom movements of Muslims was being dubbed as terrorism throughout the world because of the influence of the Zionist lobby in the US.
