DADU, Oct 7: The assistant collector of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Hyderabad range, issued arrest warrants against 26 defaulters of the NBP branch, Dadu, on Saturday who owe Rs10 million.

The defaulters among others includes the Nazim of Shah Panjo Union Council, Sikandar Ali Soomro.

On the directives of the former chief minister of Sindh and some former federal ministers, then manager of the NBP, Dadu branch, had advanced millions of rupees in loans to some businessmen, landlords, and politicians of the district since 1989 on the pretext of various schemes. These loans were never recovered.

Now the NBP, Dadu branch, has launched a drive to recover the loans from its defaulters. The NBP, Hyderabad range, has issued warrants of arrest against the 26 defaulters in Dadu.

The names of those against whom warrants have been issued are Shoukat Ali Haleepoto (Rs253,460), Abdul Razzaq Lakhi (Rs324,079), Ghulam Mustafa (Rs345,088), Khadim Hussain (Rs225,746), Gul Hassan (Rs245,746), Sikandar Ali Soomro, Nazim of Shah Panjo Union Council (Rs130,000), M Muneer Soomro (Rs130,000), Ghulam Qadir (Rs253,460), Mukhtiar Ali Solangi (Rs253,460), Qurban Arain (Rs293,112), M Rafiq (Rs293,112), Fateh M Panhwar (Rs311,976), Muneer Panhwar (Rs475,679), Iqbal (Rs494,162), Waleed Khan (Rs294,000), Mevo Chandio (Rs445,535), Mumtaz Chandio (Rs525,541), M Hussain (Rs294,900), Abdul Qayoom (Rs292,000), Iqbal Ahmed Shaikh (Rs292,000), Shahzad Ali Bhand (Rs387,000), M Ramzan (Rs394,063), Aijaz Ali Jamali (Rs591,562), Azizullah Abro (Rs383,000), and Inayat Ali (Rs342,370).
