ISLAMABAD, June 11: The World Squash Federation is to decide on the venue for the World Junior Championship by June 30, Sqd Ldr Sajid Waheed, secretary of the Pakistan Squash Federation said Tuesday.

The PSF had requested the WSF last month for moving the championship from Chennai to some other country in Asia because of security fears as tensions between Pakistan and India reached a boiling point.

However, now with tensions between the two countries having eased somewhat, the WSF has informed the PSF it was monitoring the situation.

“It is now likely that the championship may not be moved out of India but the dates might be changed,” Sajid said.

The championship is slated to run between Aug 13 and 24.

Sajid said that a change in dates would mean some of the players might become overage and the member countries could object to it. “But I think this will be sorted out.”

Meanwhile trials to select the team for the championship are to be held on June 20.
