AHMEDABAD, June 10: Fresh violence broke out overnight on Monday in the riot-scarred western state of Gujarat’s capital Ahmedabad in which two people were killed and several others injured, police said.

One rickshaw driver was stabbed to death by a group of people, while another succumbed to a bullet injury in hospital, he added.

Crowds gathered on the city’s streets, hurled bombs and threw stones during rioting in some areas of the city. Some shops and houses were ransacked and then set ablaze by mobs.

Police fired teargas shells to disperse the crowds.
