CHITRAL, June 10: Former NWFP chief minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao is likely to contest the general elections for the National Assembly seat from Chitral.

This was stated by the PPP (Sherpao) district president and former MNA Syed Ghafoor Shah before leaving for Peshawar to attend the party’s central working committee meeting. However, he added that a final decision to this effect would be taken at the party meeting.

In the 1988 elections, Begum Nusrat Bhutto had been elected member of the National Assembly from this constituency. Later, she vacated the seat.

In 1990, another leader of the party Pyar Ali Allana of Karachi was the nominee, but he lost to Shahzada Mohyuddin of IJI.
