MANSEHRA, June 8: The Directorate of Secondary Education, NWFP, has cancelled the registration of 264 private schools in the province due to non-payment of renewal fee, it was learnt.

Of the schools whose registrations have been cancelled, 92 are in Peshawar, 16 in Nowshera, 18 in Mardan, 12 in Kohat, 13 in Dera Ismail Khan, 17 in Hangu, three in Karak, 13 in Haripur, 54 in Abbottabad, 20 in Mansehra and six in Batagram.

The sources said the defaulter institutions were issued notices for payment of the registration and renewal fees, failing which their registrations have been suspended. The provincial government has issued directives to all Education EDOs against allowing the students of the defaulter schools in any other institution.
