BADIN Pakistan Railway has decided to resume train service on Badin-Hyderabad section from July 1, 2008.

The resumption of train service will provide employment to hundreds of people. In the first phase, hundreds of people will be able to travel on this section while in the second phase the service will be expanded to Karachi.

The service is being launched in view of the hectic efforts made by National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza, who hails from Badin.

A project worth 100 million rupees has been launched to rebuild the track. The work on the 100km-long railway track is in progress.

According to Pakistan Railway sources, a train on experimental basis will be operated on experimental basis on the track at low speed. However, its speed would later be raised to 80km per hour after which people from Badin will be able to reach Hyderabad within one and half hour.

The PR has also decided to constitute an advisory and monitoring committee to ensure security on the railway track and avert any subversive activity.
