HYDERABAD, June 7: Surgeon Mohammed Hussain Leghari, who was kidnapped by a gang of dacoits in April, returned home safely on Friday, a police official disclosed here on condition of anonymity.

The doctor had been waylaid by the gang outside his residence at around midnight on April 13-14 and there had been no word about his whereabouts during the 55 days of his captivity.

After a few-minute appearance at home, he left for an undisclosed destination with one of his friends, Ghulam Qadir Marri.

None of the doctor’s relatives or police officials were ready to comment on his kidnapping or release till our going to Press.

ARRESTED: The Hyderabad region police has arrested a number of absconders, criminals, and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession during the on-going campaign against criminals.

The Hyderabad police has arrested two criminals, and recovered two pistols and four cartridges.

In Dadu, a criminal was arrested and two cartridges were recovered.

In Badin, an absconder was arrested. In Sanghar, two absconders, a Patharidar, and five criminals were arrested, and two pistols, two guns, and a revolver were recovered.

The Mirpurkhas police arrested an absconder. The Badin police recovered two motorcycles, while the Sanghar police recovered eight motorcycles and a car.
