PESHAWAR, Oct 30: While the local police failed to have any breakthrough in the murder of a prominent dental surgeon, Dr Iqbal Kareem Jawed, the government on Monday handed over the case to Crimes Investigation Agency (CIA).

The deceased, who was abducted by unknown kidnappers while he was returning back home on Saturday night, was laid to rest on Monday.  His body was recovered Sunday morning when  some inhabitants of Phase 6, Hayatabad spotted it in a deserted place.

The whereabouts of the vehicle of the doctor, a 1999 model Toyota Corolla, has yet not been known. The relatives of the deceased claimed that he had no enmity with anybody. They believe that it might be a case of car snatching. The deceased has left behind a widow and four children. He had received six bullet wounds, two on his face.

A complete strike was observed against the murder of Dr Iqbal Kareem, at Stta Gadai, one of the busiest markets of Peshawar Saddar where the deceased was running his dental clinic. The shopkeepers of the market said that the deceased was a well mannered and nice fellow and his brutal murder has shocked every shopkeeper in the market.

Entry exams: The Cecos University of Information, Technology and Emerging Sciences will hold the first entry test on November 7.

The candidates to be selected will be from electrical, telecommunications and information technology engineering programmes. The University Grants Commission has already approved the courses, said a press statement issued here on Tuesday.

All candidates are directed to submit forms upto November 5. However, those candidates who have passed the entry tests of University Engineering and Technology, National University Science and Technology and Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Science and Technology are exempted from the entry test of the Cecos University (College of Engineering and Information Technology).
