ECB to ban ICL players

Published March 9, 2008

LONDON, March 8 The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will not allow players who take part in unauthorized competitions such as the Indian Cricket League to register for county cricket in England.

“Although the ECB has discretion to waive non-compliance with its registration requirements, the policy of the ECB from now on will be to decline to exercise its discretion in favour of cricketers who have played in unauthorized events, save in the most exceptional circumstances,” the ECB said on Friday.
