Sahiwal residents kill 13 dacoits

Enraged villagers took up arms against a gang of dacoits in the early hours of Sunday near Sahiwal district. In the encounter, 13 dacoits were killed. According to Deputy Superintendant Police Malik Daud, about 25 dacoits entered the outhouse of a landlord Sardar Najib at 3.00 A.M with the purpose of stealing his cattle. Sardar Majib`s servants soon discovered the would-be thieves and raised the alarm. Nearby residents quickly rushed to the scene where they engaged the outlaws. Thirteen members of the gang were killed in the encounter and the remainder of their companions fled the scene of the incident. Daud told APP that the bodies of the dead have been sent to District Headquarters Hospital Sahiwal for identification.
