LAHORE, Jan 1 Two-goal winger Mehmood Khan helped Afghan Club, Chaman, stage a recovery in the second half by beating Wohaib Club 2-1 in the Pakistan Premier Football League here on Tuesday.

Army, Pakistan Television (PTV), National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Wapda and Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) were the winners in the other six matches that took place in various cities of the country.

Wohaib, at interval, were happily leading by 1-0, scoring through Mudassar Butt in the 41st minute but things changed when Chaman struck twice to dominate the second session. Mehmood made it 1-1 in the very first minute of the second half, striking the winner in the 50th minute.

Meanwhile Wapda outplayed Railways by 4-2. Striker Imran Niazi`s two goals were simply outstanding. The losing side had gained the lead first when Sher Hassan struck a goal in the 15th minute but Wapda came back strong, scoring three goals in a row to gain a 3-1 lead.

Niazi, the only scorer for Pakistan in the Beijing Olympic Qualifiers, hammered the ball into the net first in the 23rd minute, with Jamshed Ali making it 2-1 in the 25th. The third goal was also struck by Niazi in the 43rd minute. Although Railways` Kalim Ullah reduced the lead to 3-2 in the 59th minute, Wapda scored again with Zulifqar Shah banging home in the 63rd minute to seal the match`s fate.

At the Army Stadium, Rawalpindi, defending champions Army defeated PIA 2-1. Imran Hussain opened the scoring in the 14th minute with Abid Ali doubling it in the 53rd. PIA scored the consolation goal in the 76th minute through Imran Hashmi.

Army now have 40 points from 18 matches while PIA having played as many matches has 30.

At the KRL Stadium, Rawalpindi, the hosts defeated Karachi Port Trust (KPT) 2-0 with Mohammad Rasool scoring both the goals (31st and 80th minute).

NBP and PTV also won their matches in Islamabad. A solitary goal by the international player Abbas Ali in the 15th minute helped NBP beat Navy 1-0.

PTV staged a comeback to beat KESC 2-1. Skipper Akber Ali gave KESC their first-half lead through a 36th minute spot-kick. But PTV scored in the 81st minute through Ishaq and got the second from Sanaullah in the 88th minute to complete the win.
