Record profit for UEFA

STOLCHOLM, April 35: The European football confederation, UEFA, recorded a 44.3 million euros profit last year, the organisation’s treasurer said Thursday.

Addressing the annual UEFA congress, Jeu Sprengers said that the 2000-01 profit included 16.3 million euros from interest.

He said although the profits for the current year will be down as a result of the Sept 11 terror attack in the USA, he still expected the organisation to record a profit.T he budget for 2002-03 has been calculated at 84.1m euros and the expected profit at 22.6 million euros.-dpa
