KARACHI, April 23: NGOs working in the field of human rights have condemned the verdict of stoning to death of a woman by a Kohat court and demanded that proper justice be done to the woman.

At a meeting on Tuesday the NGOs demanded that the case be reinvestigated independently and the culprits be caught and awarded exemplary punishment.

They also demanded that the woman, Zafaran Bibi, who had been convicted under the Hudood Ordinance, be provided security till the reinvestigation of the case was completed.

They demanded that the laws discriminatory towards women be abolished and the government fulfil its promise of making such laws as did proper justice to women, soon.

Representatives of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, Shirkatgah, Women Action Forum and Amnesty International attended the meeting.
